Welcome to Simply College

Welcome!

Welcome to Simply College! I’m so glad you’re here. Simply College was designed for the busy college student on the go. You most likely can be found studying for your exams and leading all the clubs, fueled by caffeine and your very long to-do list. You’re busy building your resume, saying yes to new opportunities and you are always reliable. But probably at some point you have felt overwhelmed with your schedule and trying to figure out how to balance it all. Or said yes to an opportunity because no one else would step up. This is where Simply College comes in. I’m here to say that there’s a different way to do college. You simply don’t have to do it all.

What would it feel like to have a schedule filled with things that you love and bring you joy? What if you knew what opportunities to say yes to on campus? Or how to say no to those other opportunities without feeling guilty or like you are letting others down? What if rest and fun were built into your “to-do” list? What if when people asked how you were doing, the first thing that popped into your mind wasn’t “busy”?

The College Cycle

I’ve been working with college students for the past 16 years and every year I see the same cycle — excitement and hope for the semester ahead, saying yes to all the things, overwhelm and burnout, then the need for an intense period of rest to start the same cycle over next semester.

What if there was another way?

The college schedule doesn’t need to be streamlined or perfectly organized to make all the things balance out. You don’t need to fill every single 1/2 hour time slot to make it all work.

When we simplify and get rid of the things that don’t matter, we create space to focus on what actually does matter.

You have permission to not do it all. In fact you cannot do it all — none of us can. The sooner we realize this, the sooner we will be free to say yes to the right opportunities so we can focus on what really matters to us.

Simplicity + College Life

I truly believe that simplicity can be applied to every aspect of college life. From your schedule and commitments, your priorities to your relationships, your budget and the spaces that you live in — all aspects of your college life can be paired down to what really matters. That is my hope for this community. When we get rid of the things that don’t matter, we create space to focus on what actually does matter. Welcome to Simply College. I’m so glad you’re here.
